Kratie is a province in the eastern part of Cambodia. It's alternatively Kraches or Kracheh is a province (Khaet) of Cambodia. The province is situated on the banks of the Mekong river 240km north of Cambodia's capital city of Phnom Penh, borders Stung Treng to the north, Mondulkiri to the east, northeast Rattakiri, to south Kampong Cham, and west Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear province. The Mekong River flows from the north to the south of the country, with about 140 km of the river is in Kratie. The river is home to Irrawaddy dolphins, fish, and birds at Kratié town varies greatly. There are hundreds of seasonally flooded islands in the river, and also contains many forests, the Phnom Pram Poan Mountain range, Phnom Prech, and rubber plantations. Eastern Kratié is an important bird area.
